There have been several moments recently as my youngest daughter, Stephanie, graduated from college a few weeks ago and my oldest daughter, Jamie, got married.

My proudest moment as a father happened a few weeks ago at my daughter’s wedding reception.

Stephanie was doing a toast for Jamie and her new husband, and as she recalled her history with her older sister, she became filled with emotion and began to cry. As her tears collected, she struggled to read her notes and to continue with her speech. Jamie stood up and put her arm around Steph, picked up her notes with her other hand and held them for her. All 300 people in the room smiled, and as a father, what could be better than that.

I’m so proud of both of them. The thought still fills my heart.

After all, isn’t that what we are all really here for? To help others when they need help.
