Fiber Optic Cabinets, Cables, Pedestals and Terminals

Last week, I took some time to spend with my children – who are really not children anymore – as well as my parents. My Mom and Dad are celebrating their 75th birthdays this year, and we thought a cruise for the extended family would be a real treat.

Admittedly, there was some trepidation within the group, given the recent travails of the Carnival Triumph . But the trip proved to be both enjoyable and enlightening.

Sunshine. Smiles. Laughter. Stories. All elements of good memories that will be kept forever. We were able to visit the Caribbean Islands — many of which are passionately moving forward with fiber builds to enhance the broadband functionality of their telecom networks. While I was visiting for pleasure and not work, the trip still prompted me to appreciate the forward-thinking planning and investment strategies the telecom and cable providers in this market are making toward building leading-edge, 21st century networks.

Clearfield is dedicating sales and engineering resources to work with the broadband providers in this market. Of course, the Caribbean climates are just a bit different than Minnesota. (Hurrah for a week-long escape from Minnesota’s frozen tundra!) Yet, the broadband providers here are more similar than not to the independent telephone companies throughout the continental United States.

Perhaps that’s something that we all should remember: Regardless of our occupation or industry, I think we’ll find that we have more in common with each other than not. We just have to look a little deeper than the surface (or in my case, the thermometer).
