Fiber Optic Cabinets, Cables, Pedestals and Terminals

In keeping with Clearfield’s “keep it simple” approach to fiber-fed deployments, features of the YOURx-Terminal, such as the interchangeable FieldShield® FlexCartridge®, allow it to be configured as an MPO terminal or as a pre-terminated (patch only) terminal, express fiber terminal or even with optical components such as splitters, CWDM or DWDM.

One point that may not be as well known is that the two 14mm and sixteen 10mm output ports of the YOURx-Terminal are also flexible. Did you know that the FlexConnector is designed to fit both the 10mm and 14mm openings?

One of our customers discovered this recently. The customer had ordered a pre-terminated FieldShield MPO fiber assembly with the standard YOURx 10mm FlexConnector pre-installed. Getting the MPO into the YOURx-Terminal was a little bit of a challenge. The MPO pre-connectorized assembly is too large to fit through one of the 10mm ports of the terminal. So, the customer tried getting the MPO pre-connectorized assembly through the 14mm opening and it worked. The best part was when the customer realized that by pushing the FlexConnector slightly further into one of the 14mm ports, they could make a connection that was both secure and watertight.
