I usually try to stick with business matters here in Clear Views. This time, I thought I’d make it personal. After all, no matter how hard we may try to keep your personal and professional lives separate, they are inextricably intertwined. One unavoidably influences the other.

Last Sunday, we had a party for my son as we celebrated his graduation from high school. It seems unfathomable that the 2 year-old, who came to work with me when I was just starting out in this business, is now about to start a huge new chapter in his life.

I remember that young boy racing through the warehouse using the rows of bulk cable as though it was a great labyrinth. (Who needs Pokemon Go, when you have a child’s energy and imagination?)

This fall, he’s off on a new adventure. He will be among the freshman class at the University of Arizona in Tucson. There, he will pursue a degree in Business — with the hopes of a double major in Entrepreneurship. (This makes his proud mama even prouder, as you might imagine).

My son is bright and ambitious. Does that sound boastful? (Ok, guilty.) He’s motivated with a strong sense of adventure and a little streak of mischievousness. Beyond that, he presents an innate business sense that I know will take him far.

While it’s true that no mom can be totally impartial when it comes to her children, I can objectively say that my little maze-runner is going places. And I couldn’t be prouder.
