Fiber Optic Cabinets, Cables, Pedestals and Terminals

5G discussions often focus on the large number and density of antennas and radios needed…but deploying those antennas and radios creates other issues. People dislike seeing large, intrusive telecommunications equipment. Making 5G cell sites aesthetically appealing is an important part of providing the right technical solution.

To provide a solution that our customers (and consumers) want, Clearfield® developed the StreetSmart Small Count Fiber Hand-Off Boxsmall, and innovative for 5G fiber delivery. Its compact 8"x8"x3" footprint means that not only can it be strand, wall, pole or pedestal mounted, but it’s ideally suited for concealment inside a monopole in small cell and DAS networks. Monopole towers are great for concealing equipment in tight or limited spaces and when zoning is difficult. They need less space to house the tower bases, making installations easier and deployments quicker.

Configured in either 6 or 12 terminations in both SC and LC connections, the Small Count Fiber Hand-Off Box may be compact, but incorporates lots of features into its modular product design. It serves as a network demarcation point between the backhaul fiber provider and the mobile network operator or as a demarc point for small count MDUs. The box streamlines an operator’s ability to economically extend fiber networks further into the network, supporting the rollout of 5G, fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) and wireless access services to more customers.

The Small Count Fiber Hand-Off Box also delivers easier fiber access. The hinged plate with its 216 tool locking mechanism gives security between the wireless and wireline provider. The unique angled adapter plate, designed with technicians in mind, offers easy port access for inspection, cleaning and maintenance.

Access is secured between craft responsibilities. The carrier provider side of this GR-771 rated box allows for the quick termination of up to eight total incoming FieldShield® FLATdrop cables of various fiber counts, allowing for a total of up to twelve total fibers. The customer side of the adapter plate supports either eight FLATdrop or twelve 4.8mm outgoing cables terminated with LC connectors.

The StreetSmart Small Count Fiber Hand-Off Box is available in three configurations:

  • LC/UPC to MPO feeder
  • LC/UPC to blunt
  • LC/UPC to HMFOC (hardened multifiber optical connector) tethered

See our website for additional materials about the StreetSmart Small Count Fiber Hand-Off Box, including:
