Fiber Optic Cabinets, Cables, Pedestals and Terminals

We had to laugh when a customer sent this photo of a goat eyeballing one of our pole mount Clearfield® FieldSmart® PON Cabinets. We know our cabinet looks great in any environment, but this is taking it to a new level.

Of course, GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) is a popular term in sports too...and since that's our opinion of the cabinets, we're not surprised that a Clearfield GOAT attracted a live goat.

The FieldSmart Fiber Scalability Center (FSC) PON Cabinet is a GOAT because it’s a complete solution for managing up to 1,152 distribution fibers for an outside plant FTTx application in an urban, dense or (obviously from the goat’s habitat) rural environment.

Optimal access is ensured to all ports and superior fiber protection is integrated within our popular Clearview® Cassette. Through the incremental design of the Clearview Cassette, user capacity can be scaled from as few as 12 ports to the maximum configuration of the fiber cabinet, allowing service providers to align the investment in capital equipment to the turn-up of revenue-generating circuits. And since more revenue means more time and money for experiences such as fine dining, both you and your pet goat can benefit.

Plus, labor and other field costs are minimized through the FSC PON Cabinet’s craft-friendly layout. Technicians have the ease of working with a single fiber management platform regardless of central office (CO) or Outside Plant (OSP) deployment – saving training and installation time. If that weren’t enough, patch and splice configurations eliminate costs associated with jacketed IFC cabling, hand holes and splice cases.

It also provides an interconnect environment from the feeder network through the optical passive splitter to the distribution network in an FTTH PON OSP Cabinet.

A few other reasons why the FieldSmart FSC PON Cabinet is clearly a GOAT:

  • Express ports allow for extensions or parallel networks through the cabinet cabling, hand holes and splice cases.Rugged cable clamps protect the OSP cable breakouts from twisting and pistoning.
  • Terminations are designed and tested to Telcordia GR-326.
  • Designed to comply to Telcordia GR-20, GR-409, GR-487, GR-1221 and GR-1209.
  • Clearfield FiberDeep® Guarantee: 0.2 dB insertion loss or less, exceeding industry standards.
  • Splitter density is maximized through the use of splitter modules that stack together in a top-loaded “Splitter Cage” design. Pre-terminated splitter input/output legs are manufactured with bend insensitive fiber (G.657.A) and ruggedized jackets for harsh environments, including overly curious wildlife.
  • Snake skin sleeving provides additional buffer tube slack storage protection and manageability for patch and splice configurations.
  • Patch only buffer tubes are fully protected with ruggedized bend-limiting tubing.

Who's watching out for YOUR cabinet? We hope it's looked after as well as Clearfield and the goat that is watching this one. If not, please contact us; we’re happy to help develop your inner (and outer) GOAT.
