Fiber Optic Cabinets, Cables, Pedestals and Terminals

fall

Mother Nature is a master change maker, especially here in the heartland. Now that autumn is upon us, the leaves are turning from green to red, yellow and orange. The heat is giving way to a welcome (for some, anyway) crispness in the air. In general, people are preparing for the changes ahead.

We’re getting ready for some changes at Clearfield as well. This week, we announced that we are extending the reach of our FieldShield optical fiber to the hardened connector marketplace. These new solutions,  FieldShield Hardened Connectors and the FieldShield Multiport SmarTerminal, will combine the advantages of hardened connector technology with the ease of use and cost reductions associated with pushable fiber.

In a nutshell, traditional hardened connector technology is bulky and requires the use of flat drop cables, which are stiff and difficult to store. With these FieldShield solutions, the form and fit of the SC connector is maintained, slack storage is integrated within the device, and restoration and troubleshooting are greatly reduced as field restoration is easily performed without re-trenching. A dual LC connector version is also available.

My partner, Chief Operating Officer Johnny Hill said it best, “These solutions decrease installation and maintenance time, while providing superior durability and reliability in the drop segment of the network.”

We’re confident that this is a change that people will gladly embrace. For more information on Hardened FieldShield Connectors and the FieldShield Multiport SmarTerminal, click here.
